A really super sad love song can grab the heart right out of your chest and leave you gasping for breath.

So here are a few of the best sad love songs out there. These sad songs can have even the staunchest individual's heart thumping a little louder, their eyes sniffling back tears, and arms longing for that oh so sweet adventure that we call romance.

When is it normal to feel sad?

Sadness is an emotion that we feel when we lose something we are attached to, miss someone or something close to us, are disappointed, lonely, feel sorry for ourselves, or feel sorry for someone else.

Sadness is a perfectly normal reaction to an emotional situation and everyone will experience it at least a few times during their lifetime, it's inevitable. Emotions, and this includes sadness, are just part of being human.

Crying is actually a very healthy outlet for strong emotions

Holding your emotions in, or using anger to express them, is actually not a very healthy direction to head in. So next time you are feeling frustrated, sad, elated, or angry, go on and have a really good cry. Put on some super mushy gushy sad love songs, pull out the tissues, and let those tears flow. It's good for you.
